The Washington Capitals will officially return to game action Sept. 21 when their eight-game preseason schedule opens against the Buffalo Sabres at Verizon Center.

Mon., Sept. 22 @ Philadelphia Flyers -- 7 p.m.
Wed., Sept. 24 @ Boston Bruins -- 7 p.m.
Fri., Sept. 26 v. Boston -- 7 p.m.
Sun., Sept. 28 @ Montreal Canadiens - 6 p.m.
Sports
Wed., Oct. 1 @ Buffalo - 7 p.m.
Thurs., Oct. 2 v. Philadelphia - 7 p.m.
Sun., Oct. 5 v. Carolina Hurricanes -- 3 p.m.
One notable absence is the Baltimore Hockey Classic, which will not return for a third season after subpar ice conditions and a low turnout last season All preseason home games will be played at Verizon Center.
