Capitals, Hershey Bears and Eerie Coincidences

By now, you've probably watched Joel Ward's series-clinching overtime goal from the Washington Capitals' 2-1 overtime Game 7 victory over the Boston Bruins about 100 times (I wouldn't blame you if you couldn't fall asleep).

But now allow me to show you something a little freaky.

Wednesday in Hershey, Pa., the Caps' AHL affiliate, the Hershey Bears, were facing an elimination game of their own. Down 2-0 to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a best-of-five series, a loss would have knocked the Bears out of the Calder Cup Playoffs.

In overtime, Ryan Potulny scored the game-winning goal to lift Hershey to a 4-3 win.

That's not the only coincidence. Take a look at the box scores of the Caps and Bears' game. See a similarity?

Both teams scored game-winning overtime goals just 2:57 into the extra session.

Now that's what I call synergy. Or something just plain freaky.
