Albert Haynesworth Gone; Patriot Dream Fulfilled

If the rumors are true, our favorite waste of roster space, Albert Haynesworth, will be traded to New England for a 2013 fifth round draft pick.

While it’s a huge sigh of relief for his teammates, Redskins fans and perhaps bar waitresses, it may have been just a part of Haynesworth’s plan all along.

After a particularly bad hit on Tom Brady in the 2009 pre-season, Haynesworth went on to wax poetic about the Patriots and his love for the team, according to NESN.com:

“I'm actually a big Tom Brady fan. I'm a big Patriots fan. I've always like the Patriots, I've always liked Coach Belichick. I just like the way [Brady] is.

When you step back from football, I've always liked the Patriots. I don't know why. It's just something about them. I've always liked the Patriots."

Just imagine that it was at that moment, when he looked into Brady’s calm blue eyes and saw his future, that Haynesworth would make a fateful decision.

Maybe, just maybe, he would decide to spend the next two years failing conditioning tests and refusing to play in the hope that one day, Belichick would reach down and pluck him from his Redskins hell and make him a Patriot.

So long, Haynesworth.

Thanks for the memories.
