Adam's Mornin': Could Redskins' Quarterback Carousel Finally Stop Spinning?

Like the Washington Capitals seemingly always need a second-line center, the Washington Redskins always need a quarterback. Last season, the Redskins entered the season starting journeyman Rex Grossman and unproven John Beck and never really settled on either, as head coach Mike Shanahan treated the quarterback position like a revolving door.

With the NFL Draft looming in April, the Redskins are making a push to grab an elite quarterback, specifically Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III, and apparently will pay a steep price to get him.

According to The Washington Post's Mike Jones, Washington is reportedly willing to trade two first-round picks and other early-to-middle-round picks to the St. Louis Rams to acquire the No. 2 overall pick in the draft. The deal is akin to the one that the New York Giants made to land Eli Manning in 2004, which has obviously paid dividends as Manning has led the Giants to two Super Bowl victories, including this season's championship.

Griffin definitely impressed at the recent NFL Combine, running a 4.41 40-yard dash. The 2012 Heisman Trophy winner also threw for 4,293 yards, 37 touchdowns and just six interceptions for Baylor last season, so it is very possible that Griffin could be the guy that the Redskins need. On the other hand, he could join the long, long list of recent Redskins busts, which includes Jeff George, Tony Banks, Patrick Ramsey, Shane Matthews, Danny Wuerffel, Tim Hasselbeck...(deep breath)...Jason Campbell, Todd Collins and Donovan McNabb.

Speaking of the Caps, they made a miraculous comeback (based on this season's standards) in a 3-2 overtime victory over the New York Islanders at Verizon Center. Alex Ovechkin scored his first game-winning overtime goal since October 2010. Problems solved? No, but it is a start.

Oh, and the Washington Wizards lost 119-118 to the Milwaukee Bucks on a last-second tip-in. At least it was close?

Twitter Gets Tougher

Forward/enforcer Joel Rechlicz made an impression during his two short stints with the Caps this season, but not on the ice (he earned notoriety for some interesting admissions). Now he has a platform to further share such comments as he joined Twitter Tuesday.

Rechlicz joins an impressive stable of Caps on Twitter, joining Alex Ovechkin, Karl Alzner, John Carlson, Nicklas Backstrom, Mike Green, Mike Knuble, D.J. King, Braden Holtby, Joel Ward, John Erskine, Keith Aucoin and Cody Eakin. Rechlicz might have to jockey for ice time against his aforementioned teammates (though Mr. Irrelelvant wonders if Twitter has been a catalyst in the Caps' fall from grace this season), but he could make his presence felt on the computer.

One word of advice, Joel: do not punch the screen.
