Young Needs To Get Old

Wizards sophomore has a long way to go

Nick Young, considered by some to be the Washington Wizards' shooting guard of the future, is just your regular goofball in his early twenties. Nothing wrong with that.

When he talks in his soft-spoken manner full of mischievous charm, one can't help but to conjure up an image of a thought cloud hovering above Young's head filled with teddy bears on a merry-go-round playing video games and eating tons of candy.

But the age of Nick's maturity is not the question. The guy has plenty of time to grow up.

The answer the Wizards, and their fans, desperately seek is when will Young's game get older?

Granted, in only two years in the league, Young has displayed an uncanny scoring ability via off-balanced jumpers and drives to the basket, along with hops worthy of being able to dunk on LeBron James.

But other than the occasional 20+ point outing and the penchant for over-dribbling the ball, Young's game has little else to show.

He's the type of defender a coach finds himself subbing out in late game situations and he doesn't exactly create for others with his offensive ability.

It's a daunting task, by Young needs to find a way to improve his holistic game for the remainder of the season and into the summer. Otherwise, the brilliant flashes Wizards fans have seen will be left alone in the pan.
