UMd.'s Men's Hoops Team's Grad Rate Lowest in ACC

Squad has 10 percent graduation rate

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The latest statistics from the NCAA show the University of Maryland continues to rank at the bottom of the Atlantic Coast Conference in graduating its men's basketball players.

Maryland's men's basketball program had a graduation rate of 10 percent, up from zero in statistics released last year. Wake Forest and Florida State led the conference with 100 percent rates.

The figures cover the four entering freshman classes from 1998-99 through 2001-02.

Other Maryland teams, including the football team, fared better.

Maryland officials say the men's basketball staff has been working with the academic support staff to keep players on track to graduate.
