Remember all that foolishness back in February when Donald Trump bought a Virginia golf club, and the claimed it would be “the finest club anywhere in the country” with “nothing like it?”

Well, today Trump closed on said club, the Lowe’s Island Golf Club, according to Bisnow. He’d already changed the name to Trump National Golf Course, Washington, DC.  Here are more details:

As good as Congressional is, he intends to make Trump National “many, many levels higher”; did you expect less? He says it’s already a superior natural location because it overlooks the Potomac. He plans to add a 10k SF ballroom, six tennis courts, upgrade the clubhouse and paint it all white. He says he also plans to raise the $75k membership fee “very substantially,” and to come play every two weeks. Donald says the recession drove the purchase: He was more interested in Washington because it’s become more important (“hey, it owns the banks and car companies”), and it was on the market as a result of Cap One’s purchase of Chevy Chase Bank.
