Tampa, DC Airports Take Digs on Social Media Ahead of Caps-Lightning Game

The Washington Capitals are headed to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in 20 years. The Caps will go against the Tampa Bay Lightning in a seven-game series starting Friday night.

The two teams aren’t the only ones going head-to-head. Airports in both cities appear to be having their own friendly competition ahead of the series.

Tampa International Airport showed their support for the Lightning on Twitter: “The Eastern Conference Final schedule is set and it’s never too early to start thinking about flight to @dcaiports!”

“With 10 daily flights to D.C., there are no shortage of ways to watch the Bolts win live and in person!” the tweet said.

Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority responded to the tweet saying “You must be confused: we’re booking flights to fly south & watch the @Capitals win in the Sunshine State!”

But Tampa International Airport had a shady reply to that: “It must be exciting for @Capitals fans to still be flying this time of year!”

Only time will tell, but we're rooting for the Capitals all the way!
