A person familiar with the deal says center Marcin Gortat has agreed to a five-year, $60 million contract to remain with the Washington Wizards.
Gortat, acquired in a trade with the Phoenix Suns last October, played an integral role in Washington's run to the Eastern Conference semifinals. The 30-year-old native of Poland nearly averaged a double-double per game with 13.2 points and 9.5 rebounds in 32.8 minutes.
During the playoffs, Gortat made history in Game 5 against the Indiana Pacers. With 31 points and 16 rebounds, he shot 86.7 percent from the field, the highest ever in NBA playoff history in a 30-point, 15-rebound performance.
Free agency opened throughout the NBA early Tuesday morning. According to Russini, one other team has submitted an offer to Gortat.
