Rob Lowe: Peyton Manning Retiring

The actor tweeted the news

Actor Rob Lowe, currently on NBC's "Parks and Recreation" tweeted earlier today that current Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning will retire.

How did he come across such information? "His people."

Lowe, an admitted Colts fan, said last month on Rich Eisen's podcast that he's friends with team owner Jim Irsay, so the information may have some credibility.

Manning, arguably the greatest quarterback of this generation, had three surgeries on his neck to repair a serious nerve ending injury following the 2010 season. He did not play a game this season. His father, former NFL star Archie Manning and father of Giants quarterback Eli Manning, told ESPN on Monday that his eldest son is "just biting and scratching and trying to get healthy.''
