Washington Redskins Sign Defensive Tackle Jason Hatcher, Release Center Will Montgomery

The Washington Redskins signed a new defensive tackle and released their center Friday.

Jason Hatcher agreed to a four-year, $27.5 million deal. He had 11 sacks for the Dallas Cowboys last year, including two of Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III.

One of the linemen responsible for protecting Griffin last season was released. Center Will Montgomerystarted every game over the past three seasons after signing with the Redskins toward the end of the 2008 season. The team will save almost $2 million by releasing the eight-year veteran.

After signing former Cleveland Browns guard Shawn Lauvao Sunday, the team will most likely move guard Kory Lichtensteiger to the center position.
