Veteran safety D.J. Swearinger says he was released by the Washington Redskins.
The move comes two days after he criticized defensive coordinator Greg Manusky following a loss in Tennessee over the weekend, News4's media partner NBC Sports Washington reported.
"I probably watch more film than the coaches," Swearinger said Saturday.
In an interview with 106.7 The Fan, Swearinger said he was released by head coach Jay Gruden during a meeting.
Swearinger said he was not given a reason for being cut from the team.
"Only thing he said was just I've been in his meeting room three times and he was going to release me," Swearinger said. "I asked him why, he didn't give me an explanation. So I guess it was just because of the media."
This is not the first time Swearinger has spoken out after a loss.

NBC Sports Washington reports that Gruden said previously this season that he talked with Swearinger about not voicing his concerns publicly.
