Redskins Picks to Click: Four Players to Watch

Four players set to make impact in 2010

The Redskins are making their pre-season debut on Friday against the Buffalo Bills. Who are the players you should keep an eye on?

  • Brian Orakpo: He made the Pro Bowl in his rookie season with 11 sacks, but look for him to make an even greater impact his sophomore season. The new defensive scheme that Mike Shanahan and Jim Haslett have brought in favors aggressive players like Orakpo. Not only that, he is known to be an incredibly hard worker and extremely likable off the field. How could you not want to watch him play?
  • Devin Thomas: Going into his third season, Thomas is driven to make a mark with the Skins, both as a receiver and as the kickoff return man. He is eager to please the new coaching staff and get in as much playing time as possible. Thomas's current goal is to move up the depth chart, as he is listed as the third-string split end.
  • Joey Galloway: He may be 127 years old and dress like a pirate, but Galloway still has speed and good hands. He's impressed Redskins brass enough to be at the top of the depth chart for Friday's game.
  • Donovan McNabb: There's no doubt that you'll keep your eye on the McNabb -- he's the former enemy, new QB and a six-time Pro Bowler. He's already been the subject of strict scrutiny and a well-orchestrated practical joke. What you need to look out for is not just how McNabb plays but what sort of impact he makes on the entire team. Will he bring hope and leadership, as promised, or did the Skins gamble too much on a 33-year-old who only almost brought his team to a Super Bowl championship?
