Ovechkin to Miss Saturday's Game

Remains with Ailing Grandfather

Alexander Ovechkin Remains in Russia tending to his ailing grandfather and will not return for the Capitals Saturday night game in Buffalo against the Sabres. Head Coach Bruce Boudreau expects Ovechkin to return for practice on Monday and to be in the lineup when the Capitals play the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night in the Canadian Capital.

Ovechkin missed his first game of the season Tuesday night when the Capitals beat the Nashville Predators in a shootout. Alexander Semin has picked up the scoring load this season but Ovechkin, the reigning NHL MVP, is a key to the Capitals offense if the team is to advance beyond the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
