NBC4 High School Game of the Week

Playoff Implications Change Strategy

Hakem Dermish will be live at Dunbar High School on News4 at Five Friday where the Crimson Tide prepare to take on Coolidge in a DCIAA battle between two teams that expect to be in the Turkey Bowl on Thanksgiving Day. Coolidge is 7-1 while Dunbar is 4-5 having won four in a row. Both are undefeated in league games and have clinched berths in the DCIAA semifinals.

Hakem will feature Dunbar Head Coach Craig Jeffries and what he has done to help more than 80 former football players obtain college scholarships. The racial incident in Cumberland County, Md. earlier this season will also be addressed although it remains an ongoing investigation whether the Dunbar players were the victims of racial slurs during a September game.

In addition to highlights from Dunbar and Coolidge, Hakem will have highlights of a key battle in Virginia with playoff implications. The Annandale Atoms host South County from Lorton, Virginia. Both teams enter the game tied for first place in the AAA Patriot League with identical 6-3 records. Dick Adams coached Annandale to back to back Virginia State Championships in 1993 & 1994. The loser of tonight's game may not reach the playoffs at all since West Springfield is just a half game back in the standings with a 6-4 record.
