Floyd Mayweather Jr. Arrested in Las Vegas

The boxer was charged with grand larceny

Floyd Mayweather Jr. was arrested Friday in Las Vegas on a grand larceny charge related to a domestic violence complaint by his ex-girlfriend.

His attorney Richard Wright told the Associated Press that Mayweather was accused of taking an iPhone from Josie Harris, the mother of three of his children.

"He did not commit any grand larceny," Wright said.

Harris filed a complaint Thursday that the boxer twisted her arm and punched her in the head, according to The LA Times. Police spokesman Bill Cassell told The Times on Thursday that Harris was treated for "minor injuries" at the hospital.

"At this point, Mr. Mayweather is a suspect in a domestic battery violence case, and we would very much like to speak with him," Cassell said on Thursday.

In 2003 charges were filed against Mayweather for allegedly punching and kicking Harris inside a car in Las Vegas, police told a local ABC affiliate. Harris later recanted her statement and the case was dismissed.

Police are still investigating the domestic violence charges from Thursday.
