CANCUN, Mexico -- Marissa Coleman scored 17 points and Lynetta Kizer added 16 to help No. 10 Maryland top Illinois 79-52 on Friday night in the Caribbean Challenge.
Kristi Toliver had 11 of her 15 points in the first half as Maryland (6-1) used a 32-9 run to take a 37-12 lead with 3:28 left. Toliver hit two 3-pointers and had a three-point play during the spurt.
Illinois trimmed the deficit to 39-23 at the break, but Maryland started the second half with a 16-4 run to put the game away.
Jenna Smith scored 21 points for Illinois (3-4).
