Hungry Hoyas Defeat Devils

Thompson: "Now we have to move on..."

Hoyas coach John Thompson III didn't seem particularly thrilled with Georgetown's 48-40 win over DePaul Saturday night.

"We know what we have to do and how we have to play," Thompson told The Examiner. "Now we have to move on... These guys are still excited and hungry."

DaJuan Summers scored 13 of 15 points for Georgetown -- a team high for the night -- while the Devils' Will Walker scored 20 points to keep DePaul close.

But 3-pointers by Summers and Jason Clark helped Georgetown regain momentum, reported the Associated Press.

Indeed, after Walker's bank shot made it 34-31, Summers scored six points and assisted on the other basket during an 8-0 run that put the Hoyas ahead for good.

Georgetown's win did not affect either team's placement in next week's Big East Tournament when No. 12 Georgetown plays Tuesday against No. 13 St. John’s -- a game plus four they'll need to win to claim the title and earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
