In Sochi's Iceberg Skating Palace, Gracie Gold, Ashley Wagner and Polina Edmunds will perform their short programs in the first of two nights of women's figure skating today.
The competition kicks off at 10 a.m. with the women's short program. Gold is the USA's best hope for a gold; Wagner and Edmunds, who will compete for the first time on Sochi ice, will also perform.
The biggest threats heading into the competition are reigning gold medalist Yuna Kim from South Korea, reigning silver medalist Mao Asada from Japan and Russia's 15-year-old prodigy Julia Lipnitskaia.
The U.S. men's hockey team will play their win-or-go-home game at noon today.
