Former Redskins Owner's Granddaughter Wants Team Name Change

A granddaughter of the man who named the NFL's Washington Redskins says the team should change its name.

Jordan Wright, 65, of Alexandria, told the Washington Post that if just one person says they're offended by the team's name, then that should be reason enough to change it.

Wright's grandfather, George Preston Marshall, headed a group that founded the NFL's Boston Braves in 1932. Marshall renamed them the Boston Redskins in 1933, and moved them to Washington in 1937.

Wright says she has felt since the 1980s that the word is racist but has kept mostly quiet about it until now.

Current owner Dan Snyder told USA Today last year that the team will never change its name.
