A Florida jury convicted 23-year-old Eric Rivera Jr. of second-degree murder in the death of Washington Redskins star Sean Taylor in a 2007 botched burglary.
Monday was the fourth day of deliberations in the trial. Jurors asked to re-examine a large amount of evidence.
Some jurors told the judge Friday they were having difficulty deciding the fate of Rivera. Rivera was on trial for first-degree murder.
A law book was found in the jurors' deliberation room last week, NBC 6 South Florida reported, but Rivera's defense attorneys did not ask for a mistrial Friday.
Rivera confessed on police videotape that he shot Taylor after kicking in a bedroom door at his Miami-area home, but he testified that overzealous investigators coerced his confession and that someone else shot Taylor.
Rivera faces life in prison.
Four others were charged. One pleaded guilty and the others will stand trial later.
