Washington Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau, center, first pitched the idea to Finley about becoming a forward in July.

Rookie camp for the Washington Capitals begins Monday and with it a change in the lineup.

Defenseman Joe Finley is making the move to forward.  The 6 foot 7, 245-pounder said he doesn't remember the last time he played forward, but is willing to do whatever it takes, according to Redskins InsiderJason Reid.

Finley's been training for the switch since July, when Coach Bruce Boudreau brought up the idea with him.

Rookie camp starts at 10:30 a.m. and runs through Friday, Sept. 11, when the rookies visit Vorhees, N.J., for a scrimmage against the Flyers’ rookies at Virtua Center Flyers Skate Zone.

Next Sunday, the rookies join the team's 48 veterans to prep for the upcoming 2009-10 NHL season, which starts Oct. 1 at Boston.
