Caps Move Finley to Forward

Former defenseman willing to do whatever it takes

Rookie camp for the Washington Capitals begins Monday and with it a change in the lineup.

Defenseman Joe Finley is making the move to forward.  The 6 foot 7, 245-pounder said he doesn't remember the last time he played forward, but is willing to do whatever it takes, according to Redskins Insider Jason Reid.

Finley's been training for the switch since July, when Coach Bruce Boudreau brought up the idea with him.

Rookie camp starts at 10:30 a.m. and runs through Friday, Sept. 11, when the rookies visit Vorhees, N.J., for a scrimmage against the Flyers’ rookies at Virtua Center Flyers Skate Zone.

Next Sunday, the rookies join the team's 48 veterans to prep for the upcoming 2009-10 NHL season, which starts Oct. 1 at Boston.
