Bye Bye, Butler!

Wizards trade Butler and Haywood in seven-player deal

It appears the Washington Wizards have officially thrown in the towel for the season. They're already in last place, with their star player, Gilbert Arenas, suspended for the season. Now they’re unloading some of their other marquis players.

The Wizards have traded Caron Butler, Brendan Haywood and DeShawn Stevenson to the Dallas Mavericks. They’ll get four players in return, including Josh Howard and Drew Gooden.

Captain Antawn Jamison has also been the subject of trade rumors, and the Washington Post says other personnel moves may come before the NBA’s Thursday trade deadline.

The Dallas trade will provide the Wizards with about $15 million in salary cap relief for next season.
