Burress Shoots Self (Giants?) in Leg

Receiver won't play against Skins

New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress apparently shot himself in the leg, NBCNewYork.com reported.

Prior to FOXSports.com's Jay Glazer breaking the news, Burress already was ruled out for Sunday's game against Washington, but it is unclear how long the injury will keep Burress on the sidelines.

Burress is listed as having a "sore right hamstring."

Details remain sketchy about a shooting involving Giants Super Bowl hero Plaxico Burress.

Officials say the receiver accidentally shot himself in the right thigh last night and spent several hours in the hospital before being released early today.

The team won't say which hospital Burress went to or how badly he was injured.

But a team official told The Associated Press that Burress shot himself in a nightclub. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the team was still trying to sort out all the facts.

It's another dramatic turn in a tumultuous season in which Burress has been fined and suspended.

New York City police said they were investigating whether the incident took place at Latin Quarter, a sprawling 15,000-square-foot, two-story restaurant and club located in the Radisson Lexington Hotel in midtown Manhattan.
