The Shenandoah might not be majestically purple, but if the latest Redskins rumors come true, the city's going to look a whole lot more like Denver.
The Jay Cutler rumors are picking up steam, according to the Denver Post.
Cutler, who appeared to have mended things up with his manchild coach, is now on the block. Fur-wearing owner Pat Bowlen has put him on the block.
And despite protestations to the contrary a few weeks ago, the Skins might be interested.
"The Washington Redskins are among the leading candidates to pull off a deal for Cutler. The Redskins have a proven young quarterback in Jason Campbell and would meet the Broncos' preference of dealing Cutler outside their American Football Conference. The Redskins also have the No. 13 selection in this year's draft on April 25, one spot behind the Broncos."
Vinny Cerrato denied interest two weeks ago. But with Danny Snyder's impetuousness, that's an eternity. Plus, Cutler's openly on the block now. Things change!
But if Cutler wasn't enough of a Broncoization, their former coach, Mike Shanahan, might be on his way, according to PFT.
Shanny, says the internet, met with Danny Boy earlier this off-season. Presumably, they didn't meet to discuss Shanny's beautiful tan.
Should the medium-well Zorn star be looking over his shoulder?
It'll definitely be a make-or-break year for him, assuming he gets that far. Does anyone doubt that Snyder would dump him in a heart beat if the right big name really expressed an interest? Especially if that coach let Danny try on one of those Super Bowl rings?
If it does happen, Danny better hope that Shanahan brings the mojo he had from the first half of his Denver tenure, and not the lukewarm mediocrity that got him fired in the second half.
That lukewarm performance happened to coincide with Shanahan's increased hand in the team's personnel.
If he is a poor talent evaluator, he'd fit right in.
Meanwhile, Karl Mecklenburg and Steve Atwater are contemplating comebacks. Just in case.
