Big Al Going “Hard Knocks”?

Rumors of Haynesworth to the Jets Swirl

The Jets find themselves out a defensive tackle for the rest of the season after Kris Jenkins tore his ACL Monday night in his first game back after tearing the same ACL last season.

That's bad luck for Jenkins and the Jets if we ever saw it.

The Redskins, however, just happened to have a defensive tackle (and a Pro Bowl one at that) who they'd be willing to move -- for the right price.

Put 2 and 2 together and you got a match made in Canton, right?

Not exactly.

Despite an Albert Haynesworth-to-the-Jets deal sounding like a win-win, it doesn't look like it's gonna happen.

Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com says two sources "with knowledge of the situation" say it is doubtful and "unlikely." NFL Network's Jason La Canfora also said it is doubtful, and went so far as to say he'd be both "surprised" and "shocked" if it actually happened.

This means one of two things: Either both teams are playing this one real cool in order to make a deal quietly, or there's really nothing to this, especially since the Jets play a 3-4 scheme -- just like the defense Big Al's trying to get out of in Washington.

For now, we're going with the second option, although there's probably a lot of wishful thinking on the part of Redskins fans.

It was fun while it lasted, though, wasn't it?
