Beck Dives In; Kelly's Days Could Be Numbered

Quarterback John Beck practiced with the Redskins for the first time since coming over in a trade with Baltimore.

He was at camp yesterday and is already diving into the playbook.

Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan loved Beck in college, saying he was as good as any other quarterback in the 2007 draft.

Not on the receiving end of any of Beck's passes was Malcolm Kelly, who could be in trouble. He won't practice for a couple more days because of his hamstring problems, but he's in a serious battle for a roster spot.

Don't be surprised if Kelly is cut before the preseason is finished. Head coach Mike Shanahan has been known to have a quick trigger finger in the past.
