Race for Rep. Davis' Seat Heats Up

The race for Republican Rep. Tom Davis, of northern Virginia, is heating up.

Democrat Gerry Connolly, the chairman of the Fairfax County board, is running against Republican business owner Keith Fimian, for the 11th Congressional District seat being vacated by Davis, who chose not to run for re-election. The district includes parts of Fairfax and Prince William counties.

The contest has been filled with negative ads.

"My opponent's attacks are so over the top as to 'lack credibility,'" Connolly said. "I just got re-elected with 60 percent of the vote last year."

"No personal attacks on our part," Fimian said. "Everything that we have said is a documented fact."

The race will go down to the wire, Fimian said, but Connolly claims he has a double-digit lead.

The two plan to appear together four time before next Tuesday's vote.
