Senator's Wife Pleads Guilty to Drunken Driving

The wife of U.S. Senator Richard Lugar pleaded guilty to drunk driving after hitting an unattended parked car in McLean, the Associated Press reported.

For the next year, Charlene Lugar will face strict limitations on her driving, the Associated Press reported.

Last fall, police spotted the 77-year-old still behind the wheel of her Buick, two miles away from the damaged parked car. Her blood alcohol level was measured at 0.11, above the legal limit of  0.08.

The judge suspended a 30-day jail sentence. For the next year however she is only allowed to drive to volunteer work and alcohol safety classes. Night driving also is prohibited.
