Palin's Pick for Maryland Governor Is …

Ehrlich or O'Malley? It's an easy choice for Sarah Palin.

She's backing ... Brian Murphy?

The former vice presidential candidate put her name behind the long-shot candidate instead of former Gov. Robert Ehrlich for the GOP nomination in Maryland's governor's race.

Palin announced the endorsement Wednesday on her Facebook page.

"He knows how to incentivize industry to get our economy moving again," Palin wrote.

The former Alaska governor praised Murphy for being a commonsense conservative and a firm believer in the free market.

She also mentions that Murphy is a former energy industry executive and current small business owner with private sector experience needed in government.

Ehrlich became the first Republican Maryland governor in 36 years when he won in 2002. Ehrlich was defeated by Gov. Martin O'Malley in 2006.

A recent poll indicated that Ehrlich and O'Malley are in a very close race in a rematch.
