Obama to Visit Richmond Wednesday

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is upping the ante in Virginia, returning Wednesday for his eighth trip to the state since June.

Obama has scheduled a noon rally at the 12,000-seat Richmond Coliseum.

For the first time in the memory of most Virginians, their state is up for grabs and fiercely contested by both parties in the White House race.

Obama was in Roanoke on Friday, and McCain was in Woodbridge Saturday and Virginia Beach last Monday.

Overall, it marks the eleventh appearance in Virginia for Obama, his running mate, Joe Biden, or the two combined since June.

By the same criteria, Republican John McCain and his running mate, Sarah Palin, have held four Virginia events over that span.
