O'Malley Appoints Arentz to House of Delegates

Gov. Martin O'Malley has appointed the Queen Anne's County Commission president to fill a vacancy in the House of Delegates.

The governor announced Tuesday that Steven Arentz will fill the seat opened by the appointment of Stephen Hershey to the state Senate.

Arentz, a Republican, will represent District 36, which includes parts of Caroline, Cecil, Kent and Queen Anne's counties.

Arentz was elected to the Queen Anne's County Commission in 2010. He has been the commission president for the last three years. He currently serves on the Maryland Association of Counties Board. He also is secretary of the Upper Shore Regional Council.

Arentz is a real estate agent for Long and Foster. He also is the previous owner of Hemingway's Restaurant on Kent Island.
