Second Indictment Against MD Delegate Tiffany Alston

Already accused of using campaign funds for wedding

A Prince George's County delegate already facing charges of using campaign funds to pay for wedding expenses and the salary of a law firm employee is facing a second indictment.

An Anne Arundel County grand jury returned an indictment Thursday charging Delegate Tiffany Alston with theft and misconduct in office. She's accused of adding a law firm employee to the state payroll to pay for work performed at the firm.

The state prosecutor says the employee, who never worked in Annapolis and continued to perform her duties at the firm, was not paid for those services by the firm. Instead, the indictment alleges that the state paid her a total of $800 at a rate of $100 per day as a legislative clerk before she resigned in January.
