Metro Interim GM To Become Permanent

After nearly a year, Metro may have its new leader.

The Metro board of directors has agreed to appoint interim General Manager Richard Sarles as the transit agency's new general manager and CEO.

Metro says it will finalize the decision in a vote on Thursday, January, 27th.

Sarles is the former chief of New Jersey Transit. He also worked for Amtrak and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

He has more than 40 years of transit experience.

He stepped in on what he initially said was an interim basis last March. That was after the resignation of former general manager John Catoe Jr., following a string of accidents, including a crash on the Red line that killed nine people.
