McCain's Mother Takes ‘Thank You' Tour of Virginia

With election day less than a week away, campaign workers are busy reaching out to undecided voters.

Much of the work is being done by unpaid volunteers who are staffing phone banks and handing out literature.

In Virginia, Republican presidential candidate John McCain's 96-year-old mother, Roberta McCain, is on a 10-stop "thank you" tour. During a stop in Fairfax this morning, Roberta McCain told volunteers to keep up the hard work and help get her son elected.

Her tour continues through Friday and includes Blacksburg, Charlottesville, Fairfax, Fredericksburg, Gainesville, Hanover, Harrisonburg, Richmond, Roanoke and Woodbridge.

A new Associated Press poll shows McCain trailing Democrat Barack Obama in Virginia 49 percent to 42 percent.
