Deeds-McDonnell Debate Could Get Ugly

Fairfax County hosts debate

Rivals in Virginia's governor's race are preparing to meet in what has been a turning-point debate in some recent races.

Republican Bob McDonnell and Democrat Creigh Deeds face David Gregory, host of NBC's "Meet The Press," Thursday morning at the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce debate.

Among the topics are jobs and the economy, federal health care and energy proposals, the state's transportation crisis, and what this off-year election says about President Barack Obama.

But what many will tune in for are McDonnell's answers to questions about the college thesis he wrote in 1989 criticizing working women, feminists, gays and unmarried couples who live together. His remarks on gay judges could be raised, as well.

The debate starts at 11 a.m. It's available live on the Internet at http://www.news8.net/.
