D.C. Public Schools Chancellor Michelle Rhee is being investigated by the D.C. Office of Campaign Finance to see if she broke any laws over the $65 million raised for the new teacher's contract.
Robert Brannum, president of the D.C. Federation of Civic Associations and a frequent critic of Rhee, filed a complaint alleging Rhee broke the law when asking for money for the union contract from private foundations that have reserved the right to pull funding if there is a change in leadership. Brannum alleges this directly benefited the chancellor.
The chancellor's office denies there was any personal benefit.
There will be an investigation. A ruling is expected in three months.
