We are a mere several dozen minutes away from the most important event in Virginia political history -- Democratic gubernatorial candidate Creigh Deeds' first rally with President Obama -- but the crowd's enthusiasm can already be felt around the region... or at least read about on the Internet!
While some political "experts" see mixed benefits in Obama stumping for the struggling Deeds campaign -- the Post, for example, recently reported that three whole ladies in Virginia were disappointed with Obama's performance thus far -- the Post's early word from tonight's pre-rally suggests the President will find an elated audience tonight:
...There's pretty serious energy going in the ballroom of the McLean Hilton, which is rapidly filling as we're about to hit the one-hour mark before the start of tonight's pre-rally...
The stage is set rally style, backed by an enormous American flag. A cash bar sits oh-so-close, yet oh-so-far from the roped off media section. Soft cocktail party music is playing.
Mmm, sounds about as fun as a freshman mixer at the dean's house.
The Post also notes that there's little sign of any organized protests taking place, which many raised as a possibility in the last few days after discovering that half of Virginia's voters aren't sure if Obama was born in the United States.
