“We Need to Talk About Kevin” Picked Up, Heading for Awards Season

A week after making its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, "We Need to Talk About Kevin" has found a home and should be here this fall.

Based on Lionel Shriver's award-winning novel of the same name, "We Need To Talk About Kevin" stars Tilda Swinton and John C. Reilly as the parents of a boy who grows into a sociopathic teenager. Oscilloscope has just bought the rights to the film, director Lynne Ramsay's first since her brilliant "Morvern Collar," and will be positioning the film for an Oscar run.

“I was on the edge of my seat throughout and it was clear I was in the capable hands of a master filmmaker, who I'm now proud to see join all our other great filmmakers as a member of the O-Scope family,” said Oscilloscope Laboratories chief--and Beastie Boy--Adam Yauch .

Eva puts her ambitions and career aside to give birth to Kevin. The relationship between mother and son is difficult from the very first years. When Kevin is 15 , he does something irrational and unforgivable in the eyes of the entire community. Eva grapples with her own feelings of grief and responsibility. Did she ever love her son? And how much of what Kevin did was her fault?
