U.S. Strikes ISIS, Biden Vows “North to South” Support

Military warplanes launched another round of airstrikes in Iraq against an ISIS target northwest of Erbil on Friday, U.S. officials told NBC News. Two Navy F-18 fighter jets dropped two 500 pound bombs earlier in the day near the Kurdish capital where the U.S. has a consulate. ISIS was using artillery to shell Kurdish forces defending the city, the Pentagon said. The warplanes returned a short time after its first strike to hit the target a second time, according to officials. Vice President Joe Biden, who called Iraq's president on Friday, pledged support for the Iraqi government "from north to south."
