A very big name and a very bad dancer is going home from "Dancing With the Stars" tonight, and the smart money is on The Situation and Bristol Palin.
Not even Sarah and Todd Palin's presence in the audience as their daughter whipping off her partner's shirt on national television could make up for the an awful performance. Only a slightly more wretched routine by "Jersey Shore" star Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino could offer hope that the 19-year-old Alaska native could live to dance anothher week.
Both major celebs are on the chopping block for tonight's voting results. It's like the floor fell out for both of these massive personalities at the same time.
Bristol's sexy rhumba with partner Mark Ballas caused much more of a shock in the ballroom -- this coming from the politician's daughter who normally lectures about abstinence -- than with the judges. Her folks gamely applauded with the audience, but one doubts the First Dude liked what he saw.
Palin showed a lot of leg. Ballas showed a lot of chest. But judge Carrie Ann Inaba told her she didn't show any heart. "There's no effort, we're in week four," she said dramatically.
"I want to call you out and see you dance with much more intensity," she said.
Inaba added that "there was a little too much distraction" as Ballas took in the judges' scores with his shirt still off. It was all a little too sweaty.
The Situation's tango, though showing plenty of his trademark abs in his dramatically opened shirt, was roundly criticized as well.
"It was really, really, really, really, really terrible," judge Bruno Tonioli told him.
After the judges gave him the lowest scores of the night, The Situation reportedly sulked in the parking lot outside the "Dancing" set.
"I don't know what their deal was. I really don't know," he later told UsMagazine.com. "I was upset. I actually stormed off upset because I tried so hard. I really did. I changed my haircut, I don't know."
U.S. & World
The day's top national and international news.
It will take significant voter support to keep The Situation or Palin in the program, something which both stars are capable of carrying. But they are in a precarious position with their low scores.
Meanwhile, Jennifer Grey only continued to soar in the judges eyes with a sexy tango with partner Derek Hough that earned the show's first 10 scores of the season.
Tonioli purred that it was a "primetime delight."
