Rapper Mystikal to Return to Jail

He will serve three months for a probation violation

Rapper Mystikal is headed back to jail for a probation violation, The Advocate reported.

On Monday, Louisiana State District Judge Tony Marabella sentenced Mystikal, whose real name is Michael Tyler, to three months behind bars after the rapper was arrested in February on a misdemeanor charge of domestic abuse battery.

He'll be back in jail May 14.

Mystikal, the man behind the 2000 hit “Shaka Ya Ass,” served six years in state prison for sexual battery and extortion. He was released in 2010.

Mystikal's attorney, Roy Maughan Jr., told The Advocate the rapper was given credit for the nine days he spent in jail after he was arrested in February.

Maughan described Tyler and the victim of the domestic abuse battery arrest as domestic partners who have two children together.

"It was an unfortunate incident between two people who have cared a lot about each other for ten years,'' Maughan said.
