The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is investigating an outbreak of a parasite that has affected people in at least nine states from New Jersey to Texas, NBC News reported. The cyclospora parasite causes intestinal issues and flu-like symptoms. The source of the outbreak has not been identified. So far, ten people have reportedly been hospitalized because of the parasite and most cases occurred between mid-June through early July.
