An Ohio officer is "counting his blessings" after he was plowed down by a semitrailer and escaped with only minor injuries earlier this month -- an ordeal that was captured on dashcam video.
The video shows Preble County Sheriffs Office Captain Brad Moore directing traffic Jan. 8 following a single-car accident at an intersection in Eaton, NBC's affiliate WDTN reported. A semitrailer was passing through the area when it was hit by the train. The semi-trailer then plowed into Moore while he was standing in the roadway.
The video shows a person running toward Moore, who suffered a fracture in his hand and later received 25 stitches in his head from severe laceration.
"That’s a prime example of how quickly circumstances can change when officers work on the side of the roadway," Preble County Sheriff Mike Simpson told NBC Owned Station on Tuesday. [Moore] "is counting his blessings that he only came out with the injuries that he did."
Simpson, who released the video on Monday after a request from a local media outlet, said he hopes to have Moore back working full time at the end of February.
