Tracy Morgan Quietly Has Kidney Transplant

"30 Rock" star had surgery around Dec. 10

It’s no joke – actor and comedian Tracy Morgan is recovering from surgery to replace a kidney.

The “30 Rock” star underwent a kidney transplant on or around Dec. 10, EW.com reported.

“Tracy is doing well and taking some much needed time to recover after the surgery,” Morgan’s rep told the entertainment site in a statement. “He is looking forward to going back to work after the holidays.”

Morgan, who suffers from diabetes, will reportedly miss filming at least two “30 Rock” episodes set to air in March.

The NBC comedy's executive producer, Tina Fey, will likely write that Morgan’s outrageous character has a meltdown because of something good that happened to him, EW reported.

Despite recovering from the major surgery, Morgan was spotted Friday at Madison Square Garden taking in the Knicks' drubbing by LeBron James and the Heat.

Morgan is the second “30 Rock” cast member to undergo a kidney transplant this year. Co-star Grizz Champan also had the surgery and is now the national spokesperson for the Kidney Foundation, EW reported.
