“I mean, after working with me for 40 years, he couldn’t tell me about this,” Perry told the Herald. “Why so secretive? We’re told it’s a done deal. If Steven is committed to a TV show, that kind of affects the rest of us. We’d like to plan our lives, ya know?”

The day's top national and international news.
Fox execs have not confirmed which judges they plan to replace Simon Cowell or Ellen DeGeneres with, though reports have said both Tyler and Jennifer Lopez are close to inking deals. On Thursday, the network announced that original producer Nigel Lythgo had returned to the show for its 10th season.
Perry said when he confronted the "Amazing” singer about the “Idol” rumors, Tyler said he was told not to talk about it.
Relations between Tyler and the rest of the band have reportedly been rocky for years.
An injury last summer where Tyler fell off the stage forced the band to cancel its tour, and Tyler went into rehab for an addiction to painkillers.
In November, Perry said Tyler was not returning his bandmembers' phone calls and had “quit as far as I can tell.”
Perry tweeted that Aerosmith intended to go on without Tyler and would look for a new singer.
Later that month Tyler rushed a New York stage during a Perry solo-show and vowed not to bail on the band.
“Joe Perry, you are a man of many colors. But I, mother-----, am the rainbow!” Tyler said.
The band evidently patched things up in February when Tyler said he was “back in the saddle” after having to audition for his old gig.
