A snow avalanche covered an entire village in Afghanistan, near the northern border with Tajikstan, trapping hundreds and killing at least 37, local officials told Reuters on Tuesday. Al Jazeera reported six people were evacuated to Tajikstan for treatment, while the BBC reported that rescue teams had reached the remote site. Before Tuesday, 60 people, including 35 children, had died in what is considered one of the worst winters in the region in decades.
