What to Know

  • William Daniels portrayed Mr. Feeny on the popular 90s sitcom "Boy Meets World."
  • A would-be burglar attempted to break into his San Fernando Valley home Saturday night.
  • His publicist told NBC4 Daniels frightened away the would-be burglar.

The Emmy-winning actor who portrayed "Mr. Feeny" on the popular '90s sitcom "Boy Meets World" and Dr. Mark Craig on "St. Elsewhere" thwarted an attempted burglary at his San Fernando Valley home, it was reported Tuesday.

William Daniels, 91, and his wife, actress Bonnie Bartlett, 89, were in their home Saturday night at about 9:20 p.m. when someone tried to kick in the back door, according to the celebrity news website TMZ.com.

Daniels jumped up, turned on the lights and scared off the intruder, TMZ reported.

Police believe the attempted burglary at Daniels home was a random act and not tied to the string of recent celebrity break-ins across the city, TMZ reported.

"Someone tried to break in to the home of William Daniels and his wife Bonnie Bartlett on Saturday evening. Luckily, Mr. Daniels was able to frighten away the person and the LAPD quickly responded. They are both well. Mr. Daniels thanks all his fans for their concern," his publicist told NBC4.

The LAPD confirmed the burglary attempt, but would not provide any more details to NBC4.

In addition to his role as teacher-turned-principal on "Boy Meets World" from 1993 to 2000, Daniels also was a regular on "St. Elsewhere," for which he won two Emmy Awards, and was the voice of K.I.T.T. in "Knight Rider.'' He also appeared in the movies "The Graduate'' and "Blue Lagoon.''

Bartlett also appeared on several television shows, including "St. Elsewhere,'' "Home Improvement,'' "Boy Meets World,'' and, most recently, in episodes of "Better Call Saul.''

Daniels and Bartlett married in 1951.
