'Law & Order: SVU' Appears to Be Taking on Donald Trump

Gary Cole will portray a politician whose campaign goes haywire when several women go public with damaging accusations

DUN DUN!

"Law & Order: SVU" is once again hitting the headlines for an upcoming episode. According to the official logline, "Unstoppable" features Gary Cole as a politician whose campaign goes haywire when several women go public with damaging accusations.

That plotline may sound somewhat familiar to events that have been going on in the real news, particularly concerning Donald Trump. The Republican presidential nominee was caught on tape in 2005 boasting about kissing and groping women and trying to have sex with a woman who was not his wife.

The episode airs Wednesday, Oct. 26.

Cole is well known for his role as the president's senior strategist on "Veep"--HBO's not-so-satirical political comedy starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus as the former VP and current POTUS--so perhaps this role isn't such a stretch for him.

"SVU" is also well known for taking its stories straight out of headlines. This season has already featured an episode inspired by the San Bernardino shooting and subsequent FBI investigation. In the past, the show has also been inspired by people and cases like Casey Anthony, Trayvon Martin, JonBenet Ramsey, O.J. Simpson, and even the relationship between Britney Spears and Kevin Federline.

"Law & Order: SVU" airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on NBC.
