The ranch features a six-bedroom, five-bath 9,585-square foot adobe style home custom built by Fonda in 2002. The elk head over the living room fireplace was Fonda’s from a hunting excursion at her ex-husband Ted Turner’s Flying D Ranch in Montana.

The property features southwest décor, with exposed beams made of reclaimed wood. The upstairs galleria, which was copied from the Santa Fe Public Library, houses Fonda's vast book collection and stockpile of Navajo rugs.

Fonda designed the headboard in the master bedroom. The bed linens are vintage, the ceiling fixtures are Italian, and the flooring is made of bricks arranged in a range of sunset hues, another northern New Mexico’s classic architectural feature.

Fonda purchased the ranch, which is 30 minutes from Santa Fe’s Historic Plaza and near the town of Pecos, in 2000 and spent two years hiking, camping and horseback riding across its every acre in order to perfectly site her personal dwelling, known as River House.

The River House has a rustic, handcrafted look that belies its newness, with elements such as carved-wood chandeliers and oxidized-tin sconces bolstering the impression of age, according to Architectural Digest which profiled the ranch in its March 2014 issue.

In the early 1960s under the ownership of Texas oil tycoon Buddy Fogelson and his wife, film actress Greer Garson, the estate and barn were designed by renowned New Mexico architect John Gaw Meem on his signature Pueblo Revival design.
